About MiniXok

An independent open-source AI lab dedicated to small language models, developer tools, and verifiable software.

Our Mission

MiniXok builds and shares open-source AI software, small language models, developer tools, and new technology — freely available for anyone to use, study, and build on.

We believe machine intelligence should not be locked behind proprietary closed-source APIs, opaque rate limits, and restrictive terms of service. Our work provides foundational software that developers and teams can run entirely on their own machines, inspect at the binary level, and adapt without asking anyone for permission.

Our Vision

A place where small, sharp, verifiable AI tools — not giant model wrappers — become the default choice for developers who need to trust what they run.

The industry has spent years chasing monolithic, trillion-parameter models that require warehouse-scale data centers and astronomical operating budgets. While frontier labs push scale, developers building everyday software face high latency, spiraling API bills, and non-deterministic behavior.

We envision an ecosystem where sharp, domain-specialized small models (1B–8B parameters) perform with surgical precision on consumer silicon. When intelligence is compact, it becomes composable, auditable, and truly democratic.

Positioning

An independent open-source AI lab, not a product company.

MiniXok does not build speculative consumer chat apps or sell closed subscription tiers. We operate as an engineering lab focused on foundational building blocks: specialized model weights, inference harnesses, quantization pipelines, and benchmark harnesses.

We build for developers and researchers who demand real, verifiable engineering over venture-hyped AI wrappers. If a solution can be implemented with clean deterministic logic, we use deterministic logic. If a small model solves the problem locally, we do not call a remote black box.

Core Values

Open by default

Everything we build will be published in public repositories under permissive open licenses (Apache 2.0 / MIT) with no artificial gates.

Build real things (not thin wrappers)

We do not repackage commercial API prompts as new products. We focus on real software: small models, developer tooling, and verifiable utilities designed to be inspectable.

Quality over hype

We reject exaggerated claims and marketing hype. We report technical details, resource footprints, and limitations honestly.

Open to everyone

Our tools are engineered to run on standard hardware — laptops, workstations, and local edge devices — so that high-performance AI is accessible to individual developers, students, researchers, and bootstrap teams globally.

Who We Build For

Software Developers

Engineers integrating AI capabilities directly into native software who require fast startup times, low latency, offline execution, and complete control over dependencies.

Researchers & Tinkerers

Computer scientists and independent tinkerers exploring efficient fine-tuning, knowledge distillation, architectural parameter efficiency, and novel quantization schemas.

Open-Source Contributors

Programmers and maintainers who believe that foundational technology belongs in the public commons and want to contribute to transparent, community-driven tools.

Teams & Organizations

Companies that handle sensitive or regulated data and need private, self-hosted AI models that guarantee zero telemetry, zero vendor lock-in, and predictable infrastructure costs.
